New to Scouting or want to join?
Boy Scouting is for boys who are 11, or are at least 10 years old and have completed the fifth grade or have earned the Cub Scout Arrow of Light Award, through 17 years old. Boys experience a vigorous outdoor program and peer group leadership with the counsel of adult Scoutmasters to achieve the BSA’s objectives of developing character, citizenship, and personal fitness. Our troop does activities like camping, canoeing, backpacking, hiking, whitewater rafting and more!
Troop 282 usually holds troop meetings three to four times per month. All meetings are planned and ran by the Senior Patrol Leader or his assistants. A typical meeting will consist of:
- An opening flag ceremony
- Announcements
- Skills instruction
- Patrol meetings to plan for up coming events
- A teambuilding activity
- Closing announcements and flag ceremony
Scouts can also use the time at the troop meeting to meet with the Scoutmaster for a Scoutmaster conference or schedule a board of review for rank advancement.
Troop 282 also holds Court of Honors on a quarterly basis to recognize scouts for earning rank advancements and merit badges along with other special awards.
During the summer months the Troop will meet at a local park to play a wide variety of outdoor games such as capture the flag or ultimate Frisbee.
